Favorite Artists and their Art

Hi friends, I am sharing some of my favorite artists and their art with you today.

I think we all like to be surrounded by our version of ‘pretty things’. My day to day emotions and well-being can be tweaked or altered just by having certain works of art to view. To that end, I have art in our home that moves me, sends me a message or nourishes my soul. I also like art that makes me wonder, “What’s going on there?’ I have a list of several artists whose art does those things and some whose art is just lovely to look at. I have works of some of these artists already in our home and while others are still on my ‘someday’ list…

Since I am still in the ‘stay off your feet’ mode of recovering from these bleeping broken bones in my foot, what better way to while away the time than to take a virtual tour of an art gallery. In this gallery, I’ve collected several of my favorite artists for your viewing pleasure. I am not affiliated with any of these talents, I just love their work and want to share it with you.

You can see more of their work by clicking on each artist’s name.

Karin Jurick is a self-taught artist whose figurative works just captivate me. I could look at her Museum series all day long.  Each one tells a story.

Karin Jurick - Born Ready
Karin Jurick - Moms

And if you ever need to be inspired, check out the youtube of her painting of Dustin Hoffman walking down a NYC street. In my next life…

To be an artist is to believe in life.” Henry Moore

I am lucky to call urban landscape artist Crystal Moll one of my high school friends. She was one of those people who knew her calling early on and never wavered. She now calls Baltimore, MD home and many of her cityscapes, which she does on location, reflect that city, as well as other parts of Maryland, Norfolk, VA and Charleston, SC.

Crystal Moll - Ristorante
Crystal Moll - Winterized

Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.” Twyla Tharp

Eileen Corse - Birch Line

The texture that Eileen Corse creates through the use of her palette knife and thick oils are elemental to her paintings. Just looking at her Water Series on a hot day would immediately cool you down.

Eileen Corse - Plunge

The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” Aristotle

Ah, David Arms…what is it about his art that I find so ethereal? The works of this Nashville-based artist are filled not only with spiritual symbolism but also with hope. And he is just flat out talented! He is still on my ‘someday’ list…

Birds, vessels, and fruit figure heavily into Mr. Arm’s art. He explains the symbolism behind each here.

Art is the stored honey of the human soul.” Theodore Dreiser

You have to look twice at some of Abbey Ryan’s still lifes to make sure that they aren’t photos. She takes simple, everyday objects and makes them something special.

Abbey Ryan - Peanut Butter and Jelly
Abbey Ryan - Three Lemons with Leaves

Shortly after I finished writing this, in a very Kismet-y turn of events, a friend of ours posted on his Facebook wall that he has started a new app called Pay For Art. The purpose of this app is to make it easier to purchase the art you see displayed in coffee shops, offices and other public spaces. So, since we are all about art today, it’s only appropriate that I tell you about this app! Go to PayForArt.com for further instructions, whether you are an art collector or an artist!

Slowly surrounding myself with beautiful things in my home. Some great artists and their art in this post. Perfect for any home decor.

So, that concludes today’s tour of my virtual art gallery. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.  In closing, I realized that I didn’t feature any abstract artists! I appreciate abstract art as well and now will need to plan an Abstract Artist gallery! Stay tuned.

That’s it for today my friends and thanks for stopping by to visit. I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. And when you leave a comment…ah, it makes my heart sing!

I have published printable PDFs of several of my most popular knit patterns and printables and have made those available to all of my subscribers. Come back and check every now and again. I will continue to add patterns and printables to this page as we go along.

So, if you’d like to get in on the ‘subscriber benefit’ action, simply subscribe to Nourish and Nestle using the form on the right sidebar.  It’s towards the top a bit.  Or you can just click here.  I have sent all my subscribers the link to the Subscriber Benefits Library, but if you missed it or misplaced it, drop me a line and I’ll get it right to you.

Until next time,

We’re very excited about our online shop at Society 6 – much of the artwork that you see on our page is available for purchase as a print or on a variety of products – from coffee cups to phone cases. Click on the image below, browse around and have a look for some great gift ideas!

Thanks for making my day by SHARING!!

  1. Lynn, I LOVE viewing art and you’ve chosen a few very talented artists. I used to do art shows years ago and I can remember seeing a gorgeous painting at one of the shows that had a price tag that was over $5,000. I can see why all of these artists can command those prices.

    1. Maybe we can find some time to go viewing an Art Gallery while in Atlanta this summer? Then again…

      Thanks for visiting my friends.

      Hugs, Lynn

  2. Thanks for teaching me about these artists. My parents and I also love art that tells a story. I get tickled when my dad shows me new art in his home and tells me the story that he has come up with.

    1. Your dad sounds like my kind of guy! Now, when I come down to go thrifting with you, I can also hang with your dad and discuss art. Thanks for visiting my friend.

      Hugs, Lynn

  3. Thank you for the beautiful artwork pictures. I truly enjoyed them all, but I must say, the Chickadee and the cotton pods really caught my eye. Thanks again for sharing.

    1. Pat, you and me both! I love that Chickadee painting…in fact, I love all his paintings. Someday!

I’m so glad you enjoyed my virtual art gallery. I promise you I enjoyed putting it together.

      Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

      Hugs, Lynn
