Sweet Knit Baby Blanket Pattern
This sweet knit baby blanket pattern used the mini purl from Big Bad Wool and modern cotton from Berroco yarn. It was lovely and a real delight to knit.
Without me telling you the exact number, you know I’m of ‘a certain age’ when my friends are starting to welcome grand-babies into their world. How absolutely thrilling! Needless to say, with a 15-year old and an 18-year old, I’m not ready for that transition, but I am always ready to knit a baby blanket, especially when it’s as sweet as this one. I found this pattern called Mini Purl and it was a real delight to knit. Once I got over the initial 8 stitches worked in the round (I think my long fingers made this such a challenge), the rest of the blanket knit very quickly (2-3 weeks, a couple of hours most days).

I used Modern Cotton by Berroco. It knit up very soft, with no irregularities in the yarn. I liked it but would like to try with the Merino/Alpaca that the pattern designer used and recommends.
While I would use this baby blanket pattern again in a heartbeat, I’m always on the lookout for great patterns, for baby blankets as well as everything else. I’ve posted some on my Pinterest account and would love it if you shared some of your favorites in the comments section below.
Here’s another question for you. Would you make this blanket for a baby boy? I’ve been pondering ways to alter the lade ruffle (which is my favorite part of the blanket) to make it less girly…more boy appropriate. Suggestions?

Thanks Charlene, I made that link easier. Wow…that was one of my very first posts and I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I need to go back in and give it some love. And think a seed stitch edge would definitely make it suitable for a boy…or maybe even a crochet picot edge.
