Hi Alicia,

I&#039;m pretty consevative when it comes to canning soups in that I follow UGA/USDA guidelines. Barley is considered a thickener and as such, I don&#039;t can products with barley in them. That said, there are recipes on line in which folks to can soups with barley. 

I just haven&#039;t done it and am not comfortable recommending it.
