4 ounces of diced bacon 1 tablespoon oil vegetable, canola, or olive 1/2 cup diced onion 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 cup ketchup 1/4 cup malt vinegar 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar 2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce Up to 1 teaspoon liquid smoke optional
Saute bacon in oil until lightly browned.
Add onion, garlic, cumin, and cayenne pepper and saute over medium heat until onion is soft, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the remaining ingredients and simmer until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.
