Monday Musings, April 22

Good Monday Morning Beautiful Friends!

What a quick, but lovely weekend! My babies (22 and 19) were home for all of 24 hours to celebrate Easter…but we sure made good use of those 24 hours!

I made sweetly asked the entire family to see Disney’s new Penguin movie, which was delightful by the way. We followed up the movie with dinner at one of our favorite pizza restaurants. Then, Sunday morning, we attended our lovely Easter church service, enjoyed our traditional Easter brunch, and then they hit the road back to their respective schools to finish the semester. Phew! Once they all hit the road, I treated myself to a well-deserved post-brunch coma nap!

Mini Breakfast Quiches anyone? They are the perfect ‘make-your-own’ brunch entree, each guest can customize their quiche to their tastes!

I have loyally used Crisbee Cast Iron Seasoning for the past 3 years and my cast iron has never been better.  They recently came out with a new cast iron seasoning wipe, which is a game-changer for me. Heretofore, I kept either their puck or stick and a piece of paper towel (the only reason I had paper towels in the house) in a drawer and used the two on my warm cast iron after cleaning it. But their new Crisbee Wipes combines the two! I’m sure everyone’s experience will be slightly different, but my pucks/sticks have lasted about 9-12 months and I used them every time I cooked with any of my cast iron pieces. I’ve just used the wipe twice so far, but I would expect to get the same use out of it.

I just finished reading We Are All Completely Besides Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler, which I did enjoy. I like a book that surprises me with its premise and this one did that. It asked the question, ‘what defines family?’ And, I’ve just started The Newlyweds by Nell Freudenberger…I’ll keep you posted
