Home for Christmas, 2024
We were gone for Christmas, and actually most of December last year, so we didn’t decorate our home.
So, I was very excited to pull out our ornaments and decorations this year. I’m not one to buy new decorations or switch my decor each year; I enjoy our original decorations that hold so many memories. I might switch things up a bit from year to year, but the ‘bones’ of our Christmas decorations stay the same.
One thing I did new this year was buy a garland and a wreath for our front door. When we purchased our home from my parents in 2019, we inherited the garland they used around the front door. It finally became painfully apparent that that garland needed to be retired, so I treated myself to a sparkly new garland and wreath this year! It has battery-powered lights set on a time…so no wires! Score! We have had those nutcrackers for twenty-plus years.
I just noticed Elsa’s face looking out the sidelights at the door in the second photo down! 😁
That’s pretty much all we’ve done out front this year because…nothing says Christmas like a porta-potty and trash bin in the front yard! 😂
This Santa elf and our sparkly, tinsel-y tree with vintage ornaments are Christmas mainstays in the foyer.
My husband has given me a Waterford Christmas ornament since our first Christmas thirty-nine years ago! They are displayed on this tree in the dining room, though I think I need to figure out a better tree. They are heavy, and the branches on this tree are just not sturdy enough.
One thing that will never change is that this Santa painting will always hang over the mantel in the living room. The beaded and red Christmas trees are two new additions to the mantel this year. Kate and I each made beaded Christmas trees last month, and I’ll share that tutorial for next year.
Prints of Santa are available for purchase at Society 6, which is currently having sale!
What you don’t see is the challenge Elsa posed to our decorating! We had to close the lid on boxes immediately, or else she’d go shopping, which is her favorite pastime. More than one glass ornament was shattered in her mouth! 🫢Luckily, I think we dodged those bullets. But that girl has serious FOMO (fear of missing out), so she was involved every step of the way.
In the kitchen, the hutch gets fancy with sparkly lights.
The breakfast room garland was adorned with copper cookie cutters in past years. This year, I made this gingerbread man garland to add to it.
The den Christmas tree is adorned with the Twelve Days of Christmas ornaments my parents collected over the years.
Well, friends, that’s a quick tour of our home this year. I wish you and yours the merriest, most joy-filled Christmas…ever!
Hugs,
