Monday Musings, August 5

Hello there friends!

Here we are at a Monday…again. Seems like last Monday was just yesterday! Phew…

We popped up to Chapel Hill to move our daughter from one apartment to another…sadly, she is ‘downsizing’ which means she sent home a whole bunch of her stuff! Argh…STUFF!!! I’m a bit over ‘stuff’! But I did discover these Space Saver bags. Why have I never used them before? They are a game-changer!

Funny(ish)  story…while out of town moving our daughter, we ended up staying in a nice hotel, our regular hotel was booked and this one was having a ‘special’. It was so fancy that it had a ‘pillow menu’ detailing all their special pillows. We were absolutely exhausted and crashed on the very comfy pillows. However, I woke up 45 minutes later with what seemed to be the world’s worst (and quickest) cold! Coughing, sneezing, couldn’t breathe through my nose, and a headache. It took me probably another hour to realize that it could be the pillow! I tossed that special pillow off of the bed and eventually fell back to sleep. I awoke the next morning completely fine…no cold! Upon inspecting the offending pillow, it turns out that it was stuffed with Hungarian White Goose Down. I guess I’m allergic to Hungarian Geese!

Have you ever noticed how mint doesn’t seem to respect personal space? I mean…it just really has no boundaries. I love some fresh mint, but don’t love how invasive it can be. So it’s great to have some recipes to use it up. Check out these Mint Cocktail recipes to help you use the prolific herb.

Wow…this is some great guidance!

Here’s a delightful resource! When we travel, I love to read books (fiction and non-fiction) that are set in the area that we are traveling to. This database will provide you lists of books set in certain locales!

Between my stuff, my daughter’s stuff and stuff my mom left behind, I am revisiting these tips for decluttering our kitchen.

This Spiced Golden Plum Jam Recipe is one of my most popular recipes and its popularity really soars this time of the year as people want to use the last of the season’s fruits to make a delightfully scented jam, perfect for the coming fall days. It is also a great recipe for novice canners.

Got to love a good Message in the Bottle story.

Pickled Blueberries Recipe

Pickled Blueberries! We are enjoying these little pickles in salads, sandwiches and our charcuterie board. Given them a try!
