Monday Musings, November 5
Well, hello there friends!
I spent this past week slapping no less than 10 colors of paint on the walls in my kitchen and den only to decide that I am not going to change the paint color after all! Do you ever do that? Now I need to repaint over all those swatches!
And, November doesn’t care that I’ve been a little paint-preoccupied…it’s coming and we are slowly preparing for all the hoopla that is just around the corner.
We are watching ‘The Man in the High Castle’…and…hmmm. We are in the third season and it seems that there are at least 2 parallel universes? Don’t tell me what happens…we are going to stick with it.

- A friend of mine just let me know about this newsletter; if you find yourself looking for what’s on Netflix or Amazon or Hulu or HBO, then this is thrice-weekly newsletter will surely be welcome in your inbox.
- Now would be a great time to put together your Wrapping Paper Organizing Cart.
- I am wont to add a little salt to just about anything, including cheese…makes Terry cringe…so I can see using the liquid from feta cheese to brine any number of things.
- These Snow-Covered Coconut Christmas Tree Cookies are so easy to make…and a big hit! Make sure to add the edible glitter stars!
- Looking for a new podcast? Proof from America’s Test Kitchen dishes (see what I did there?) on food mysteries.
- Use a little teapot instead of a gravy boat! Keeps it warmer and much less messy!
We are just about ready to hit the road for a quick 24-hour trip to visit our daughter today, so I’m wrapping this Monday Musing up. Flora and Peep’s favorite sitter is coming to spend the time with them…she spoils them so!
Thanks again for spending a few minutes of your busy day with me today.

Wow, a parallel universe in The Man in the High Castle? I was wondering how they were going to explain things! Haven’t started watching season 3 as it was released just as my husband was leaving on a 3 week business trip. He returned on Saturday just in time for our granddaughter’s christening and the start of season 4 of Outlander on Sunday. (Have you watched Outlander or read the books? Great show, even better books!) Can’t wait to start watching High Castle!
Oh, I hope I didn’t give anything away! But…do start watching and let me know what you think is going on…we are just a little perplexed. And I think I am the ONLY person in the civilized world who hasn’t watched Outlander…does your husband like it? For some reason I thought it was a chick flick thing and that mine might not enjoy it.
And I know you enjoyed that Christening!!!
Hugs, Lynn
Using a little teapot for gravy, brilliant idea! I have one! I had a very chipped gravy boat my grandmother had made in a ceramics class, and the handle broke off, very brittle pieces, so I used it with a ladle, but the teapot makes so much sense. In a way, I’m sad that Grandma’s gravy boat is to be thrown, but I am a believer in everyday using those things given and handed down to you, rather than kept away in a box or cupboard. And the bonus, the little teapot belonged to my husband’s grandmother.!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Lisa,
I wish I could take credit for that idea…not sure where I heard of it but we used it last year and it is brilliant. Kept the gravy warmer and the whole process neater. And bonus points for using hubby’s grandma’s teapot!
Hugs, Lynn

Best of luck covering the swatches on your wall. So glad you don’t have to change the color.. Also cant wait to check ou America’s test kitchen proof. You know I’m a fan. Until next time.

LOVE the teapot idea for gravy!!!
Hi Leslie, I am not sure where I first heard of idea…but it is brilliant, isn’t it?
Hello, also love the teapot idea for the gravy. Will put it to good use this Christmas as it is my turn to host lunch.
Thank you,
Meg
Perfect! So glad to have given you that little idea!
