Decorating Christmas Cookies with Family and Friends
Running out of time? Need Christmas cookie recipes? Unsure how to decorate Christmas cookies? Need easy Christmas cookie decorating ideas? This Christmas cookie decorating kit is just for you! This Walkers cookie decorating kit saved the day and I was able to spend invaluable time decorating Christmas Cookies with Family and Friends.
I had made all the plans.
I had purchased all of the ingredients.
I had all my favorite Christmas cookie recipes ready to go. I had even filled out my handy dandy baking planner so that I would have dozens of Christmas cookies baked in time for ‘the day of cookie decorating’ that follows Thanksgiving.
But, as my dear friend Robert Burns so eloquently proclaimed, ‘ The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.’
Somehow between all my planning and the Friday after Thanksgiving, I entered a time vacuum that sucked up every.single.day leaving me high and dry as it related to decorating Christmas cookies.
Which is why today, I offer gratitude to my friends at Walkers Shortbread. And which is why I am a firm believer in Kismet (and FedEx).
Because, somewhere between the 5th and 6th box of Christmas decorations being toted from the attic to the kitchen, the doorbell rang.
There was a box sitting on my porch, left by the FedEx guy who was hustling back to his van.
And in that box, were 2 more boxes. And in those 2 more boxes of Walkers Shortbread Festive Shapes Shortbread Cookie Decorating Kit, were already baked shortbread cookies, icing, icing tips, glitter gel, writing icing, and sprinkles just waiting to be assembled (and enjoyed). This, my friends, is the ideal solution for the time-pressed, holiday frazzled wanna be Christmas cookie decorator! Think easy Christmas cookies and, yet still, all the Christmas cookie decorating fun with family and friends.
Truly, EVERYTHING you need for decorating Christmas cookies is in the box…from 2 dozen cookies to icing tips and everything in between. And if you already have the icing and sprinkles handy, you can also order the Walkers Shortbread Festive Shapes on their own. They make for a delicious no-bake option when you need to decorate (or gift!) cookies in a hurry. And like all Walkers Shortbread, they are made with just four natural ingredients (flour, butter, sugar, and salt) so they make the perfect canvas for frosting.
Needless to say, the procession of Christmas Decoration totes came to an abrupt halt and the decorating of Christmas cookies commenced.
We literally pushed the decorations to one end of the counter and made just enough space for cookie decorating, which in all honesty, doesn’t require very much space.
And it was a good and wonderful thing.
Because my boy who needs a haircut started decorating cookies with his sister who didn’t want me to take a picture of her. They are at different schools now, so their time together is so very brief and so very valuable. (Don’t tell her that I snuck this one!)
Even Terry, who is typically content to do more eating than decorating, was thrilled for a reason to take a break from schlepping Christmas box and joined in on the Christmas cookie decorating fun.
And…look at what we accomplished!
So, those would be the bare minimum of Christmas decorations…but then there are all the Santas and the Nativity and the Books…and well…you get the picture.
Thanks again for spending a few minutes of your busy day with me today.

Shortbread cookies have always been my favorite! I love that they sell premade cookies to decorate. My grandkids would love to help decorate those cookies!
You need to gather those grandkids for a day of decorating…and you will be so happy that you don’t have to do the baking!
Such a timesaver, Lynn! The real fun is in the decorating anyhow. 🙂
Right!!!! Why didn’t we think of this before? Hope you and your girls have fun decorating!!!
I love that these are already baked and in festive shapes. I never have time to bake cookies but these would be fun to decorate with my nephew.
Right!? I mean, what a brilliant idea. So much more fun to decorate than to bake!
