Monday Musings, September 16
Happy Monday!
For what it’s worth, here in the Northern Hemisphere next Monday, September 23, will be the first day of Fall! For our friends down south, Happy Spring!
Without a doubt, our days are becoming shorter. Over the summer I often enjoyed my breakfast on our screen porch while watching the sun rise. I realized this morning that it is still dark at the time I normally eat my breakfast. It’s been a whirlwind of a summer and so I am ready for a kinder, gentler fall.
If I have any influence over Mother Nature at all, I surely did my part in the kitchen this weekend. Spiced cider simmered on the stove while Spiced Scones and Apple Filled Muffins baked and college football played on the TV. Truly, it was bliss.
I will get those recipes published as soon as possible, so maybe our collective baking of fall-ish foods can nudge things along. And, pop back in tomorrow as I am joining in with several other bloggers in a weeklong Fall Bonanza! You can see today’s posts here.
As if the advent of Fall isn’t enough to get you excited, Downton Abbey premiers this weekend! My husband (who has an acknowledged man-crush on Carson) will be escorting my mom and me to dinner and the movie on Friday!

In case you missed it, this Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread Recipe was published last week. I told you I was doing my part in prodding Fall!
In our old house, I had a copy of this Measuring Equivalents Chart posted on the inside of one of my cabinets and found myself referring to it quite frequently. When we moved this summer, I accidentally left it behind (a little gift for the new owners) and with all the baking I did this week found myself really missing that resource. Luckily, I was able to print one off, laminate it and now it’s hanging on the inside of my new home’s cabinet!
