Monday Musings, May 17

Happy Middle of May, my friends!

We continue to be blessed with abundant sunshine and the most lovely temperatures here in Southeast North Carolina. My perfect weather is warm, dry days and cool nights and that is exactly what Mother Nature has been serving up for us lately. As a result, we are spending our days outdoors, getting our yard spruced up. Our vegetable garden has tomatoes that grow by the day, as well as cucumber and bean plants. My flower garden is just getting ready to burst with color of dahlias and zinnias!

If like me, you find yourself patching the walls in your home because you’ve moved/added pictures, fixtures or whatever, this little House Paint Touch Up Kit has your name all over it.

I did finish up the sweetest little baby blanket for soon-to-be born Grace. It’s all ruffles and rosebuds and is a very quick knit! Here’s a little sneak peek…I hope to have the pattern published within the week.

Thursday is a busy day! Not only is it National Pick Strawberries Day, but it is also National Rescue Dog Day! So in preparation for the day, consider these Strawberry Recipes.

My parents have had rescue dogs for the past 45 years. This past year, mom lost not only my dad but their beloved Bernie, who they had rescued 13 years prior. We had been looking for the right pup for mom for months when we came across Gigi! This little imp brightens mom’s days and makes her laugh regularly. When mom adopted her in early January, she was recovering from a through and through gunshot wound inflicted upon her 5 days before! We are all stunned that she has had no complications from that injury, and it clearly has not dampened her joie de vivre.

I am a firm believer in Kismet; things happen for a reason. We were becoming frustrated that after 6 months we couldn’t find a dog for mom, but less than a month after dad’s death we find Gigi. I can’t imagine a more perfect pup for mom.

Bake up some treats for your favorite Rescue Pup! These 3-Ingredient Dog Treats couldn’t be easier.

We really enjoy this Jalapeno Cheese Spread and I will be making it in the very near future for a gathering after my dad’s memorial service.

I am off to take Flora to the Vet and look for marble for our hearth! Truth be told, I really don’t like shopping for home decor stuff! I’m rather lazy that way.

Make some wonderful memories this week, my friends.

Hugs,
