Monday Musings, September 14
Good Morning, my friends!
My soul and my outlook are a tad rejuvenated this morning!
When we took our son to school last month, his car was in ‘the shop’. We thought it would be done by the time he had to go, but you know the old adage, ‘The best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry’! So, we picked it up this past week and made plans for the 4 hour trip on Saturday.
We took our ‘baby’ out to dinner to celebrate his 21st birthday, enjoyed watching him open his presents, met for an early lunch on Sunday and were back on the road by 12:30 yesterday. We were there less than 24 hours and spent 8 hours on the road…but it was pure bliss! Not only getting to celebrate our son, but just taking a break from our ‘groundhog day’ world was just the boost we needed.

A friend recommended ‘Bosch‘ to us and we have really enjoyed it! We are in the last season, but think there will be a next season. It is a detective series set in LA, based on the novels of Michael Connelly, and the lead character is perfect in this role. In fact, all the main characters are just very likable…in their quirky way. If your stay-at-home movie queue is getting thin, I definitely recommend Bosch.
There are so many reasons to love this new Apple Spice Quick Bread Recipe:
- Baking this bread doesn’t require any special equipment…you can leave your mixer in the cupboard!
- It takes less than 30 minutes from when you decide to make this Spiced Apple Bread until you pop it in the oven.
- While baking your apple bread, your house will smell heavenly, redolent with cinnamon, apples, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
- By calling it a ‘bread’ you can justify eating a deliciously moist, almost cake, for breakfast!
- This Apple Quickbread uses up apples that are getting past their prime.
- You can bake this Fall Spice Bread in mini-loaves for gifting! (and just because we leave no stone unturned, you can download a sheet of labels for gifting)
If, like me, you are feeling particularly ‘apple-y’ these days, here are some other recipes that use apples:
- These Apple Cider Muffins with Apple Filling will be a year-round favorite. Not only does the apple filling take these muffins from delicious to decadent, but the sprinkling of cinnamon-sugar right out of the oven finishes them off perfectly.
- An easy recipe for Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread will have your kitchen smelling like the best of Fall!
- This Spiked Apple Cider recipe is like a cup of fall! The warm, caramel cider is perfect for tailgating or sipping around the fire on a cool fall evening. An easy, super tasty, and warm adult drink that is like fall in a glass.
If you are planning on knitting a blanket or throw in this coming months, you can see a quick glimps of all 6 of my knit blanket patterns in one place.
Is it just me, or is copper a particularly ‘fall-ish’ metal? Oh, I keep copper on my kitchen counter year-round, but I also bring out my copper tubs and buckets in the fall. If you love copper, but maybe don’t love the price of a copper tub, consider a ‘faux’ copper tub. This was an easy and immediate-gratification kind of project.
Before you start pulling out all of your seasonal decorations, now is a great time to do a quick decluttering. With these printable sheets, you could hit each room each day and be done in 9 days. Here is Week 1 of the Decluttering Challenge. You could download all the sheets from the Subscriber Benefits Library or sign up to have them delivered to you weekly if you prefer.
Well, my lovelies. I am off to do the yardwork that didn’t get done this weekend and work on that blasted table we’ve been sanding forever!
Many hugs,
