Monday Musings, November 4
Well, Hello there November, where’d you come from? Is it just me, or was November just a little sly this year, sneaking up while no one was watching?
But, sneaky or not, I’m ready for you November…and you too, December!
This (possibly false) sense of bravado I feel today surely is the result of spending the last 2 weeks in my own home and actually getting stuff done! These accomplishments really have really made me feel empowered! So, what did we do that was so empowering? Well, we put together a frame/picture in our dining room that had been sitting in pieces for the past 2 months and we made a huge dent in our garage, so much so that we might actually get the second car in within the month (don’t want to rush these things!)
In our defense, we purchased this home from my parents when they moved and they left behind not only all their lawn equipment and tools, all my father’s old power tools and hand tools but also those of my dad’s father who passed away 15 years ago. And so we moved in with all of our own equipment and suddenly have triples of every single garage thing. So this weekend we began the process of pulling out everything, putting like tools together and choosing what we will keep, what we will save for our kiddos and what we will donate.
And this doesn’t even show the car full of stuff we automatically decided to donate to The ReStore, where I will be headed as soon as it opens this morning.
So, you can see why I am feeling empowered this beautiful Monday morning, right?
On top of that, I actually sat down this weekend and did some planning for the next 2 months. I don’t know about you, but if I don’t get started on the right foot with a plan in place, these next 2 months can become quite stressful and a lot less enjoyable. With my children in school and only home for the holidays, I want to be sure that I am in a place to just soak up the time with them. Do you love Mulled Wine? Love Jelly? If so, you might really love this Mulled Wine Jelly…it’s two, two, two treats in one! And we have found it to be wonderfully versatile, elevating everything we have served it with.
Got a query on resizing Knit Blankets this weekend, which is the single most asked question I receive. I was confounded by resizing as well until I figured out the formula. Check out this post for the ‘how-tos’ of Resizing Knit Blankets, Dishcloths and Throws.
Don’t forget to enter to win: A Knit Tote, A Cable/Electronics Travel Organizer and Wine Aerator. And stay tuned…we have a BIG giveaway coming next week (here’s a hint, it rhymes like Fitchenaid Plender!)
The word of the day is ‘Sobriquet’, which means nickname! Let’s see how many times we can work that into our conversations today!
Well, I am going to go and get more stuff down! How about you, what’s on your schedule this week?
Hugs,
Lynn
Love that dried hydrangea arrangement. My hubby is a tool freak. He keeps buying them up at estate sales. I ask him, don’t you already have this? Answer yes but not this size. So anyhow my kid will get the joy of throwing stuff out when we pass. Love your thoughts and musings and recipes!
Hi Rhonda,
Thanks for the sweet comment! Since we’ve recently moved I no longer have hydrangeas, but will definitely be planting some! One of my favorite plants for sure! And those tools…holy cow. We have them coming out our ears.
And thanks for appreciating my musings! I love working on this blog, all the more so because of my lovely readers like you!
Have a great day my friend.
Hugs,
Lynn
